Keep your key. Send us photos.
Why travel when you can copy it right from your couch? Most key fobs can be duplicated from photos alone — especially older formats using simpler technology. If your key has a visible serial number, photos are often all you need. Our records show a 100% success rate for nearly all older formats. Once you complete the application, we will use the additional data (your location, your specific verified format, and other factors) to calculate your customized success rate.

Newer key technologies (like 13.56 MHz fobs) use encryption specifically designed to prevent copying. Retail kiosks do not support these formats, and in our 13 years in business, we have yet to encounter a local locksmith offering the specific key fob technologies we support. These require our specialized processing equipment, proprietary software, and expertise. You mail your key to us, and we create and test the duplicate before we ship back your original and the new key copies.

Property management companies sometimes purchase a new property and receive only
a small number of original key fobs for an existing access-control system. When
they can’t get additional keys through the existing system, we can help
bridge the gap.
We call these “Locked Out Systems.”
CloneMyKey can provide additional keys while the property manager works toward a
permanent solution. We always recommend eventually working with a qualified
commercial locksmith or access-control company to properly take over and secure
the system. In the long run, that is usually the better and more cost-effective

It’s More Than Just the Technology
We work with 100+ combinations of key technology and manufacturers, and even that
doesn’t tell the whole story. We’ve served customers in more than 35 countries,
and the same technology can behave differently regionally, depending on how a specific
access system is configured.
Why Does This Matter?
Identifying the technology is only the first step. The real challenge is programming a blank that works reliably with your specific access system.
We have extensive knowledge of access systems throughout the U.S., including systems that may look nearly identical but are configured differently depending on where they were installed and who installed them. Over 13 years, we’ve learned how these systems behave in the real world, and that knowledge has significantly improved our success rates.
When we encounter a configuration difference or issue at a particular location, our technicians diagnose what went wrong and record the solution in our database. When we receive another order from the same location, we already know what adjustments may be needed and can apply them before your key ships.
For example, some locations have ignored manufacturer-recommended installation guidelines and installed their RFID sensors directly on a metal surface or behind a glass plate. These installations can significantly reduce the sensor’s ability to reliably read an RFID key.
When we receive an order from one of these locations, we already have the issue documented. We can recommend a more compatible key blank with better performance characteristics or supply a blank with a more appropriate antenna, such as a larger antenna or geometry better suited to that particular installation.
We also test completed keys against RFID sensors configured to closely match the access systems they’re intended to work with. When possible, we use the same manufacturer’s equipment, helping us verify that a key works with the system it was made for—not simply that it was successfully programmed.

My landlord doesn't make additional copies of the rfid tags to get into the building, and for yyeeaarrss I suffered at only having two. If friends came over when they were in town for a couple days, we had to figure out how to buzz them into the building. And then my wife suggested finding someone who made them, and thus I found clonemykey and, ever since then, when guests misplace them? No big deal. When my wife can't find her keys? It's cool. Basically, everything is better. I can't recommend them highly enough. Truly transformative.

If I got it directly from my building I would have to pay over $100 for one key and we needed multiple. CloneMyKey explained to me that most apartment FOBs have a low frequency for elevator, gym, front door of building,etc. and a high-frequency for your apartment door.

The problem usually isn’t that your key can’t be copied. It’s that the device you bought wasn’t designed to support your key’s specific technology or doesn’t have the information needed to properly reproduce it.
For newer key fobs, encryption is now one of the biggest reasons consumer cloners fail. But encryption isn’t the only challenge. Even when a key isn’t encrypted, there can be a surprising number of variables that have to be identified and programmed correctly — including frequency, facility code, parity bits, bit length, card serial number, and the way that information needs to be converted.
And there’s another part that many people don’t realize: you usually don’t copy a key onto another blank that looks like the key you already have. The only time someone is likely to notice is if they physically see you using a different-looking key. For example, if you choose a different color or style of key fob than the original, a person observing you may notice the difference. A duplicate contains the same credential information as the original. If your property manager or building administrator deactivates or deletes the original key from the access control system, all duplicates created from that key will be deactivated as well.
